What this document is
The baby's birth certificate, with a Japanese translation if there is one. If there is no birth certificate yet, submit the birth-registration acceptance certificate (出生届受理証明書) instead.
What it must show
- Choose 1: the birth certificate · or the birth-registration acceptance certificate (if no birth certificate yet)
- Birth certificate in Vietnamese → attach a Japanese translation
Where to get it
Birth certificate: where the baby's birth was registered. Acceptance certificate: the city hall where the birth was registered.
How to get it
- Have the birth certificate → photograph/scan it; if in Vietnamese, also prepare a translation
- Not yet → request the acceptance certificate at the city hall (after registering the birth, within 14 days of birth)
Notes
⚠ You MUST apply for the baby's residence status within 30 DAYS of birth — being late makes the baby an illegal resident.
