What this document is
Certificate that municipal (local) tax has been FULLY PAID, issued by the city hall for multiple years — get it together with the income certificate.
What it must show
- One sheet per year — all required years
- Confirms NO local-tax arrears
Where to get it
The same city hall as the income certificate.
How to get it
- Request it at the same time as the income certificate
- Clearly ask for the “fully paid” version
Cost & time
About 300 yen per sheet per year.
Notes
Tax arrears are a common reason for permanent-residence rejection — pay everything before applying.
